Pairing SX1238 with 802.15.4 capable MCU

Dear LoRa community,

My application needs me to transfer data using 802.15.4g (SUN) and SX1238 says is can support the necessary modulation for the same.

Does this mean that I can pair any MCU that can run a 802.15.4g stack and use SX1238 as a transceiver and send data to any SX1257 AFE (which also supports similar modulation) based gateway such as this one? https://in.element14.com/pycom/pygate868/expansion-board-868mhz-lorawan/dp/3499446
